We're Here to Listen
I specialize in working with women facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, stress management, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, parenting, life transitions, grief and loss (including loss of a pet), and LGBTQIA+ concerns.
While my primary focus is on supporting women, I also work with men, particularly those seeking parenting guidance.
Through individual counseling and life and health coaching, I offer flexible support with virtual, in-person, and walking sessions, helping clients find balance, improve well-being, and achieve personal growth.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered, drawing from various theories and techniques to tailor the counselling process to each client's needs.
At my practice, I promise to provide confidential and compassionate care in a safe and non-judgmental environment. We will work collaboratively to identify your goals and develop tailored interventions. My goal is to support and empower you in achieving personal growth and well-being.
Peaks and Valleys Counselling
My Name is Katie Tersmette, I am a licensed and experienced counsellor with a passion for helping others. I hold a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling from the Kelowna College of Professional Counselling, where I gained comprehensive training and expertise in a variety of therapeutic approaches.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including individuals, couples, and families, facing a wide range of challenges. My approach to counselling is rooted in empathy, compassion, and collaboration. As I shift my focus to women and parenting, areas that deeply resonate with me and where I have extensive knowledge and experience, I remain committed to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe every person has unique strengths, and my role is to help them harness those strengths for personal growth and healing.
I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a warm and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to share their concerns and explore their emotions. I value open communication and collaboration, and I actively involve clients in the therapeutic process, ensuring that their goals and desires are at the forefront of our work together.
In addition to my professional training and experience, I also bring a deep sense of empathy and understanding to my practice. Having faced my own personal challenges, I understand the courage and vulnerability it takes to seek help and make positive changes. I am committed to providing a space that is free from judgment and stigma, where individuals can feel seen, heard, and supported.
